Butter and flour a pie pan.
Ready your oven for baking at 350°F (175°C). Press the rolled-out pie dough into a 9-inch pie plate. Snip the corners and, if you want, crimp them.
To get a little golden crust, bake the pie dough for 10 to 12 minutes. While you make the filling, take it out of the oven and let it to cool.
Get the chocolate filling ready:
Mix the cocoa powder, sugar, flour, and salt well in a medium saucepan using a whisk.
Make sure the egg yolks and milk are combined well in another basin. Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients in a slow, steady stream while whisking continually to prevent lumps.
Stirring continuously, cook for 7–10 minutes over medium heat, or until the mixture comes to a boil.
Take it off the heat and mix in the vanilla essence and melted butter until combined.
Spoon the chocolate filling into the pie crust that has been cooked.
If desired, whip up the meringue:
Use an electric mixer to whip the egg whites in a separate bowl until soft peaks are formed. To get firm, glossy peaks, beat in the sugar a spoonful at a time while beating.
Before sealing it, spread the meringue over the hot chocolate filling and make sure it reaches the crust's edges.
Ten to twelve minutes at 350°F (175°C) will get the meringue a golden brown color.

Before serving, allow the pie to cool to room temperature. Put it in the fridge for at least two hours to let the filling set for the best results.
Only fifteen minutes to prepare, twenty to cook, and eight to serve.
This Old Fashioned Chocolate Pie is ideal for chocolate lovers, so have a piece and reminisce! 🍫🥧
