A Recipe for Cherry Bars
Get the oven hot, about 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare a jelly roll pan (12×17) by lining it with aluminum foil. Use a nonstick spray to coat. Put aside. For about one to two minutes, using a stand mixer bowl, blend the sugar and butter. Keep whisking in the eggs, salt, almond and vanilla flavorings until combined.
Just till mixed, add the flour and baking powder. Separate out 1 3/4 cups of dough. Press the extra dough into the baking pan that you had previously prepared. Crumble some cherry pie filling on top. Sprinkle the cherry filling with the leftover batter.Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a golden brown color appears.
Take it out of the oven and let it cool entirely on a wire rack. After it has cooled, get the glaze ready. Pour the icing sugar-milk mixture over the bars after whisking until smooth. Divide into 35 equal pieces and present.
